Oats

My father has been on oats diet for so many years. His habit starts early even before the claims that oats lower cholesterol level.

The first thing that most guests notice in his kitchen is his treasure of a row of "Quaker Oat" mugs nicely arrange on the shelf.

He manages to stick to oats be it rain or shine, even to the extend of breaking fast during Ramadhan. His life is incomplete without oats.

Interestingly, Reader's Digest Nov. 2009, published an article on "Oats Stand the Test of Time".

Eating oats may reduce blood concentrations of total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol without affects on levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol or triglycerides - American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine.

So far, his diet couple with healthy lifestyles and activities proven to be fruitful. At 75 years, he still goes strong without serious illness like hypertension, diabetic or heart problem.
